“It looks stupid”, “It’s disgusting”, “Seriously who does that”, “This is so ratchet”, Ok so you don’t like it? That’s alright but who died and made you the King and Queen of Standards? Did they ask you for your opinion? How does their choice of eg Dressing affect your life? Did you die? It has to stop because what? You don’t like it?
I love this quote by Stephen Fry..
“It’s now very common to hear people say, ‘I’m rather offended by that.’ As if that gives them certain rights. It’s actually nothing more… than a whine. ‘I find that offensive.’ It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. ‘I am offended by that.’ Well, so ****** what.”
As a person who uses social media a lot. I’ve noted how today’s generation finds it consequently easy to be offended or opinionated about something. The argument is always ‘I’m entitled to my opinion’ oh well yeah yeah you’re right…But here’s the thing about opinions and your rights to voice out that you’re offended by something..
Having personal feelings is not a right, it can in actual fact breed mental enslavement. You see someone’s dressing, how they speak or the way they conduct their lives and you find yourself being opinionated and offended by it easily Ring a bell?? That is an attribute of mental slavery you want to see things a certain way because that’s how you were taught to see them.
One thing that our generation needs to note seriously is that “Your rights are to freedom, life, and pursuit of happiness without infringing the rights of another”.
The word “pursuit”, means to Pursue which simply means you have the right chase, but does not equate to obtaining. While your entitlement to an ‘opinion’ is a right non can take from you..Educate yourself into freeing your mind from becoming a slave of opinions and taking offense from things that at most times do not and should not concern you.
“If I believe 2+2=6, I’m still wrong regardless of it being “my opinion”.
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. Train your mind to stop respecting thoughts and attitudes of ignorance and prejudice. You will learn to experience the world in a different way and be a more accommodating human being.
